At Pretty Pearlfect, our goal is to create jewelry that you can enjoy for decades. We are tired of throwing out discolored and tarnished jewelry that we used to love. And you feel the same right? Living a sustainable life but making it fashionable and affordable drove us to discover the gold-filled.

Our materials 

We use the finest materials to make our pieces last. Our findings and chains are made with 14k gold filled. “Gold-filled” is a USA industry standard that legally requires 5% pure gold by weight. It is made with a layer of solid gold bonded to a base material (usually brass) with heat and pressure. Gold-filled has up to 100 times more gold than gold plated. It’s the best alternative to solid gold and is hypoallergenic and water safe. Well maintained gold filled jewelry can last 10-30 years before the gold wears off. While gold filled has some limitations because of the way it is manufactured; it is only available in wire or sheet form, so it cannot be cast or poured into a mold. Gold filled charms are either flat (made from sheets), or hollow (two pieces of sheet metal soldered together). Whenever we can't make charms or rings out of gold filled, we use gold vermeil or gold plated over brass instead. 

All of our pearls are cultured freshwater pearls that are ethically sourced.

Care guides

Give some love and proper care so your jewels will keep you company for many years to come.

• After each wear, gently wipe skin oils off from the piece with a soft cloth.
• We recommend cleaning your gold filled jewelry with warm water and mild soap every week to remove the skin oils and dirt buildup.
• Keep scents, lotions, sprays and other chemicals away from your jewelry. These acidic and harsh ingredients may affect the wear of your jewelry.
• Remove your jewelry before hot tubs, pools, intense workout and the ocean.
• Gold filled jewelry does not tarnish, but it might oxidize over time. Constantly wearing them to shower or clean them will keep your jewelry from oxide build-up. If your jewelry has not been worn for a period of time and you find it not as shiny as it was, wipe it with a jewelry polishing cloth will bring it back.
• We recommend taking off your pearl jewelry before showering and swimming to maintain its lustre. Constant exposure to chlorine in the water will damage the pearl's surface. Similarly, chemical substances in perfumes, cosmetics and hairspray will eat holes in the pearl nacre. Put on your pearl jewelry last after your normal skincare and makeup routine.
• For gold plated or gold vermeil, gently wipe to clean and keep it from water.
